In September 2012, Apple launched the iPhone 5, its most eagerly anticipated smartphone to date. It quickly became a bestseller for the California based manufacturer but this did not stop rumours about the next instalment of Apple’s iconic smartphone line from circulating shortly after the iPhone 5 was released.
There are currently dozens of rumours circulating around the internet regarding the next iPhone and its potential features. Current rumours are suggesting everything from an Apple iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, to an iPhone Mini and even an iWatch device.
Various rumours have been circulating for a while regarding features that we are likely to see on the iPhone 6. GSM Arena has recently reported on one of the latest, which is also one of the most interesting. The rumour suggests that the iPhone 6 may sport a stylus pen feature, which would make it the first iPhone model to do so. Of course, this is purely speculation at this point as Apple has not confirmed the most existence of the phone itself. By incorporating a stylus pen on the next iPhone, it would of course allow Apple to better compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Of course, Apple and Samsung remain locked in an infamous legal battle, and this would allow Apple to compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which continues to dominate in the phablet niche virtually unchallenged. GSM Arena also states that if a stylus pen was included on the next iPhone, it would likely sport a higher level of functionality than that used on Samsung’s Galaxy Note products. Furthermore, Apple recently filed three separate patients for stylus pen technology. While this may point to Apple’s plans of including the feature on the next iPhone, it could also simply be a strategic move by Apple in the ongoing legal battle with its Korean arch rival.
